Yes SCSI is right. I have not yet been able to find a guide, just the Do not have the floopy that came with board although i did buy it new and would not matter because I do not have a floopy drive attached to machine. I also like the suggestion of the linux way of trying to save some files. It should work fine. Can I install drives with a disk or usb stick? Also, what array would I use to setup this drive as the boot disk?

If you don’t do that you will not even be able to read the drive. With his machine I had to set it up as one drive running RAID 0 to get the drive to actively boot for the install. So how is this done?

In device manager it shows a Promise device SCSI disk device which is the drive and says working properly but does not dslta it as a drive where I can access it to take a look at the files on it even though it says it is working properly.

Time will not increase the problem if the disk is kept in a cool place. It should work fine. Maybe I have this all wrong but isn’t sata raid setup for adding a disk to run along and mirror another disk with the same info which improves performance and you have a back up if one or the other crashes? What I am seeing now with the fastbuild Utility in promise Technology is I think you are saying I can use this to copy the data from a bad drive to a new drive if i set it up that way and save the whole hard drive to a new hard drive. Thread Tools Show Printable Version.
